Continuous rains have also brought down the air pollution but the main point it, THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Even the upper areas of Uttarakhand received fresh snowfall. It is very unusual that Northern part of India is experience heavy rains and Uttarakhand experiencing snowing in October. This is a clear sign of climate change and it is worrisome.

Scientists have been researching on the factors that have affected the climate recently. There was a delay in monsoons and the development of low-pressure areas are the main reasons behind continuous rains in several places.

Rains & Snowfall in October is Unusual

We are not denying the fact that it has NEVER rained in October. It has. But the frequency of rainfall is extreme. Landslides, floods and a week of continuous rains is unusual. The India Meteorological Department issued a warning last Wednesday, of heavy rain from October 6. The heavy rainfall began in many parts of India on the evening of 7th and it has been raining since then. The IMD has predicted more rain in Delhi-NCR and neighbouring regions this week. Even Kedarnath and Pithoragarh received fresh snowfall this morning.

Environmentalists have clearly suggested the reason for unusual heavy rains is climate change. Climate change refers to the long-term shifts in temperatures and the change in ecology behaviour and weather patterns. You will be surprised to know but according to the study published by Journal Nature Communications, human-caused climate change are turning trees into gluttons. This means, due to elevated levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the wood-volume has increased. Means, less leaves more woods. And we all are aware of the fact that trees release the oxygen that we breathe.

The human-caused climate change is mainly because of the burning down the fossil-fuels, increase pollution, cutting down the trees and excessive usages of transportation to name a few.

It is time that we become more aware about the climate and become conscious about our actions and behaviour towards the environment.

It has to start with you and me. We need to adapt habits that are environment-friendly, not just at our houses but also when we travel. Because when people travel, they treat their temporary-stay (the hotels, hostels, resorts, camps and home stays) with so much careless. It is high-time that we think of the world as our huge home and keep it clean just the way we keep our houses cleans.

We shall continue to bring more information to you. Requesting you to share this article on your social media in order to make people aware about the climate and environmental crisis.
