Unprecedented flash flooding triggered by relentless monsoon rains and heavy upstream run-off from the hills of neighboring Nagaland has struck Assam. State authorities have classified the inundation as an extreme natural calamity that overflowed several river embankments by up to 3 to 5 meters.

Floodwaters Receding & Power Restoration
Floodwaters are slowly subsiding across Sivasagar and Nazira. The administration is gradually restoring electricity in affected sectors as waters drop, monitoring grid safety on an hourly basis.
Connectivity Restored
Heavy silt and mud initially blocked key routes, isolating several rural pockets. Government agencies have now cleared critical access roads, restoring vehicular connectivity to carry relief supplies directly into affected villages.
Review by Central Inter-Ministerial Team
A four-member central team led by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Joint Secretary of Disaster Management) has conducted ground inspections across Sivasagar, Jorhat, and Golaghat to carry out a comprehensive damage assessment and outline long-term central aid.
