GUWAHATI — The overall flood situation in Assam has shown signs of gradual improvement as water levels continue to recede across most affected districts. However, the state remains severely impacted, with over 4.45 lakh people across six districts still reeling from the devastation caused by heavy monsoon rainfall and river surges.
According to the latest bulletin from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the official flood-related death toll stands at 68.

Worst-Hit Districts: Charaideo remains the most severely affected district, with nearly 1.88 lakh residents impacted, followed closely by Sivasagar (1.44 lakh), along with Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, and Kamrup (Metropolitan).

Inundation Metrics: Over 630 villages across 21 revenue circles remain partially under water, and more than 37,000 hectares of agricultural crop area have been submerged.

River Flow Levels: Most major rivers in the Brahmaputra basin have receded below danger mark levels, except for the Dhansiri River (South) at Numaligarh in Golaghat district, which continues to flow above the threshold.
Relief and Rescue Operations
Government agencies, alongside the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), have deployed scores of rescue boats to evacuate marooned residents.
