Apple’s first foldable iPhone brings a few features that could make it particularly interesting for people who travel often, from its large 7.6-inch display and 48MP camera system to its eSIM-only design and long battery life.
1. The iPhone Duo Could Be Great for Travel Photography
The iPhone Duo features a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system, with a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. It also offers optical-quality 2x zoom, Night mode, macro photography and up to 10x digital zoom.
For travellers, the Ultra Wide camera can be especially useful for architecture, landscapes and group photographs when you simply cannot step further back.
The foldable design also introduces Duo Preview, which lets you use the outer display as a preview while taking photos. That could be handy when travelling solo and trying to frame a photograph without asking a stranger to take it.
2. A Bigger Screen for Maps and Travel Planning
When unfolded, the iPhone Duo gives you a 7.6-inch display, Apple’s largest iPhone screen yet. When closed, it has a 5.4-inch outer display.
That larger screen could be useful at airports, train stations and unfamiliar cities when checking maps, reading hotel confirmations, comparing routes or researching your next destination.
You can also use the foldable design for multitasking, making it possible to work with multiple apps on the larger display.
3. The eSIM Feature Is Made for International Travel
One of the biggest advantages for frequent international travellers is that the iPhone Duo is eSIM-only.
It supports dual eSIM with two active eSIMs and can store eight or more eSIMs. Apple says eSIM is supported by more than 500 carriers worldwide, including Airtel, Jio and Vi in India.
That means you can potentially keep your regular number and add a local or travel eSIM without physically swapping SIM cards.
4. Battery Life Matters When You’re Travelling
This is another strong point. The iPhone Duo has a dual-battery architecture and offers up to 24 hours of typical use, according to Apple. Video playback is rated at up to 44 hours using the outer display and up to 31 hours using the inner display.
It can also reach up to 50% charge in around 20 minutes with a compatible 60W or higher adapter.
For a long sightseeing day when you are constantly using maps, camera, translation and social media, that quick top-up can be particularly useful.
5. It Can Replace a Small Travel Tablet
This may actually be the most interesting part for travellers.
Open the iPhone Duo and you have a 7.6-inch screen that can be used for watching downloaded shows on a flight, editing photos, reading, browsing, gaming or checking travel documents.
Apple also says the phone will support Apple Pencil with USB-C, coming later in 2026.
6. Is iPhone Duo Worth Buying for Travellers?
If you travel frequently, particularly internationally, the iPhone Duo has several genuinely useful travel features. The large foldable screen, versatile 48MP cameras, eSIM flexibility, long battery life and compact folded design make it an interesting option for travellers who want one device to handle almost everything.
The biggest catch is the price. The iPhone Duo starts at ₹2,99,900 in India, so it is definitely a premium travel companion rather than a practical budget upgrade.
For frequent travellers, content creators and people who want to carry fewer devices, though, the iPhone Duo could be one of the most interesting travel phones of 2026.
