ABOUT US
There is a famous phrase – To err is human, which means it is normal for humans to make mistakes. But we humans have erred enough. We have acted unresponsively towards our planet, our nature which has resulted in climate change crises and caused disturbance. It is high time now that we take charge of our actions and act responsibly, especially while travelling.
Responsible Yatri is a digital initiative with a purpose to make people aware about climate change, sustainability, conscious-living and acting responsibly. We aim to bring stories from all across the world to inspire you and educate you about responsible travel & tourism.
Founder of Responsible Yatri, Anamika Mishra is an award-winning author, motivational speaker, mentor and one of the most popular travel bloggers in India. She has been travelling since forever as her parents were travel buffs. She believes in slow travelling and seeking off-beat places while learning more about the culture, history, lifestyle and people.
Imagine you’ve been planning to visit a place since years – say Ladakh; You are really excited to see the beautiful mountains and monasteries. But when you visit Ladakh, you see garbage every here and there. You want to sit and breathe-in the beautiful environment but then you see waste packets, water bottles, chewing-gum chews on the floor. Such a big turn-off? Isn’t it? Now imagine, you have been wanting to visit an age-old lake but when you visit, there is hardly a lake. It is similar to what you saw in the photo above!
Same happened with Anamika Mishra recently, when she took her nephew 8yo Yuvraj on a holiday to Mumbai. Yuvraj was really excited to see the beaches as it was his first trip to a city with beaches. Upon reaching Juhu beach, Yuvraj felt so disappointed that he asked Anamika to go to some other place which was ‘neat’. Packets, bottles, cloth-pieces and wrappers kept on entangling on Yuvraj’s feet making him feel even more annoyed.
And this is not just Juhu beach, this is about every single tourist place in the world. The incident that happened with Anamika and Yuvraj was not happening for the first time. This has happened with Anamika so many times before as well.
Sadder part was, the impact on the environment and people. This waste gives birth to so many diseases that are so dangerous for living being. And environment, it is suffering big time.
And it is SCARY!
The loss of sea ice, melting glaciers and ice sheets, rise in the sea levels, more intense heat waves, forest fires, frequent droughts, extreme summers & winters, rainfall in deserts, species dying, severe storms, not enough foods, poverty and what not! And all because of humans being irresponsible towards the planet.
It was high-time that we took some action. Anamika wanted to make good use of her social media following over 0.5 million followers on social media and over thousands of blog and book readers. Hence, Responsible Yatri was born!
