Amid Schengen visa delays, UAE residents can get a UK visa in a day

As UAE residents face mounting delays in securing Schengen visas for European travel, the United Kingdom is fast emerging as a preferred destination. The reason? Streamlined visa processing with priority services that deliver decisions in as little as 24 hours.

With the summer holiday season around the corner, frustration is rising among travellers struggling with limited appointments, lengthy backlogs, and extended processing times at European missions. In contrast, the UK’s Priority and Super Priority visa options are offering a faster, more reliable route.

Super Priority Visa: Decision Within 24 Hours

The Super Priority Visa Service is the fastest option for UAE-based applicants. According to the UK Home Office, decisions are typically made by the next working day—or within two days if the biometric appointment falls on a weekend or UK bank holiday.

  • Processing time: 1 working day

  • Cost: £1,000 (approx. Dh5,000) in addition to standard visa fees

  • Eligibility: Available for most visitor, work, student, and settlement visa applications

Priority Visa: Five-Day Turnaround

For those who don’t need a decision overnight but still prefer a quick response, the Priority Visa Service offers results within five working days.

  • Processing time: 5 working days

  • Cost: £500 (approx. Dh2,500) plus the application fee

  • Start time: From biometric appointment or document submission via the UK Immigration app

The UK Home Office notes that in exceptional cases, applications may take longer if further checks are required.

Standard and Long-Term Visitor Visas

Travellers planning longer or multiple trips can also apply for the UK’s standard or long-term visitor visas. These options allow multiple entries, but each visit is capped at six months.

  • Standard Visitor Visa: £127 (stay up to 6 months)

  • Medical treatment visa: £220 (stay up to 11 months)

  • Academic visa: £220 (stay up to 12 months)

  • Two-year visa: £475 (6 months max per visit)

  • Five-year visa: £848 (6 months max per visit)

  • Ten-year visa: £1,059 (6 months max per visit)

Standard processing time for these visas is around three weeks from the biometric appointment at VFS Global centres across the UAE.

Application Process and Premium Services

All UK visa applications must be submitted online, after which applicants book a biometric appointment at a VFS Global Visa Application Centre. Optional premium services—such as courier delivery, document scanning, and lounge access—are also available for added convenience.

Each visa type requires specific documentation, so applicants are advised to check requirements carefully on the Gov.UK website before applying.

With Schengen visa queues unlikely to ease soon, the UK’s faster and more flexible visa services are making it an increasingly attractive choice for UAE travellers this summer.
